I am to accomplish and complete a ultra-important schmoozie-woozie task/target by the end of this semester [May-June]. So any thing that keeps me from losing focus and keeps reminding me of the task at hand is more than welcome.
Achieving this end is UrgeMe, a free online service that sends you reminders by email at regular intervals with the message you wanted to be reminded with.
All you have to do is enter the email address, the message you wish to be reminded with and the date till which you wish to be reminded [or urged]. Once done it will send you the reminder messages at regular intervals urging you with whatever you wished to be urged with thus ensuring that you don’t lose focus or forget the task that is to be accomplished by D-day.
One thing that I wished could be adjusted was the frequency of reminders. At present, if the target date is set to more than a month, say 2 month, then for the first month it would send you a reminder only once a month followed by two week prior then a week and finally a few days before the day of reckoning. Option of changing the once a month reminders to twice a month would have been a better option in my opinion. Though I do realize that doing so would also increase their operating cost.
In order to establish redundancy, I am also planning to set up SMS alerts using Google Calendar and also going old-school – marking dates on the calendar with a big red marker.
Godspeed
